-
Identifies contraindications and performs a patch test
-
Creates a personalised course and preparation plan
Laser suitability, hair pattern, skin type, contraindications and patch response before treatment.
Who is it suitable for?
Adults considering laser hair reduction. Suitability depends on skin type, hair colour/coarseness, treatment area, tanning, medication and medical history.
What happens at your appointment?
This is primarily an assessment appointment. We review your concern, history, previous treatment and goals, examine the relevant area and explain the options that may be appropriate. If a separate treatment session is required, you will be told how to prepare and what to expect.
Before your appointment
Bring details of medicines and recent tanning/skin reactions. Do not conceal sun exposure or use of products/medicines that may affect laser safety.
Downtime & aftercare
Patch-test aftercare is explained at the appointment. Avoid tanning and report any unexpected delayed reaction before the first full session.
Recommended course
One consultation and patch test before the first treatment course; repeat patch testing may be required if circumstances or settings change.
Frequently asked questions
-
Why do I need a patch test?
It helps assess skin response and supports selection of safe treatment settings before a full session.

-
Can I have laser if I have recently tanned?
Recent tanning can increase risk and may mean treatment needs to be delayed. Tell the practitioner about natural or artificial tanning.

-
Does laser work on every hair colour?
No. Very light blonde, grey, white and some red hair contain too little target pigment for reliable laser response.

-
Can I wax between sessions?
Waxing and plucking remove the target hair from the follicle and are usually avoided during a laser course. Shaving guidance is provided instead.
