What is Hair & Scalp Assessment?
Consultation and scalp review for thinning, shedding, receding hairlines, edges and scalp-health concerns.
What it may help with
Potential Benefits
-
Clarifies the pattern of the concern before treatment is chosen
-
Reviews scalp health, hair-care history and relevant contributing factors
-
Helps decide whether blood testing, non-surgical treatment or specialist referral is appropriate
-
Supports a personalised plan rather than a one-size-fits-all package
Hair shedding, thinning, receding hairlines, thinning edges, crown thinning and scalp-health concerns.
Who is it suitable for?
Adults noticing new or ongoing thinning, shedding, hairline change, thinning edges, crown loss or scalp concerns. The assessment can consider a wide range of hair textures, including Afro-textured and tightly curled hair.
What happens at your appointment?
This is primarily an assessment appointment. We review your concern, history, previous treatment and goals, examine the relevant area and explain the options that may be appropriate. If a separate treatment session is required, you will be told how to prepare and what to expect.
Before your appointment
Bring details of current hair products, supplements, medicines, recent blood results if relevant, and photographs showing progression if you have them.
Downtime & aftercare
No treatment downtime. Bring a list of medicines/supplements and, if useful, photographs showing how the concern has changed over time.
Recommended course
One assessment first; follow-up depends on the plan.
Frequently asked questions
-
Do I need to know what type of hair loss I have?
No. The purpose of the assessment is to review the pattern and decide whether a clinic treatment, blood testing or medical/specialist referral is appropriate.

-
Can you assess Afro-textured hair and thinning edges?
Yes. The assessment can consider curl pattern, styling and traction history, breakage, scalp health and the pattern of thinning. Some presentations require dermatology or medical review.

-
Will I be sold a treatment on the day?
The priority is to understand the concern first. A treatment is recommended only if it is appropriate to the assessment and your goals.

-
When should I see a doctor about hair loss?
Sudden, patchy, painful, inflamed or scarring hair loss, or hair loss with other systemic symptoms, should prompt appropriate medical assessment.
