War is going to disrupt Sleepy Hollowin more ways than one.\"War can tear a town apart but also a family,\" series co-creator Roberto Orci said at the Television Critics Association fall previews on Sunday. \"Can [Ichabod and Katrina] redeem their son or not\" Fox at the TCA fall previews: Get the latest newsThe relationship between Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) will also be tested. \"Picking up this season, there will be some real trust issues,\" executive producer Mark Goffman said. \"We saw that Crane had betrayed Abbie's trust in redrawing the map to Purgatory.\" Does that mean that Ichabod and Abbie won't act on the chemistry that many of show's fans detect \"Crane is married and still hopelessly in love. That can't be forgotten,\" Goffman said. Beharie added, \"I really think it's interesting and fun that she has a relationship with a man but it's not romantic... Crane has become a family member.\" Check out more Season 2 scoop from the Sleepy Hollow panel below: New bad guys Co-creator Len Wiseman revealed that viewers can expect new twists on the Pied Piper, a wendigo creature, a succubus character and \"the kindred.\" His fellow co-creator Alex Kurtzman added that these creatures will be a \"manifestation of what our characters are actually going through. The inner demons are manifested as literal demons.\" A new ally \"We have a new sheriff in town, Lena Reyes, and that's going to pose a lot of cool conflict with Crane and Abbie as they try to work their way in the precinct,\" Goffman said. \"She has a history in Sleepy Hollow but has been with the border patrol.\" He added that Abbie has more of a connection to the no-nonsense Lena than she knows, and that Abbie will learn about her own past through working with Lena.2014 Emmys surprises and snubsStaying grounded Don't expect to see Ichabod escape his coffin too quickly. \"It's been harder than we thought to get him out,\" Goffman said. Kurtzman added, \"We spent so much time to get him in the ground. What we didn't want to do is just get him right out and make it feel easy.\" Surprise for the Cranes Goffman hinted, \"We're going to drop a few bombs in this season with Crane and Katrina (Katia Winter) that neither of them could have ever prepared for.\"Welcome to 2014! Also, Comic-Con-goers will see a sneak peek clip of Ichabod's confusion over pen attached to chains at the bank. What are you looking forward to the most in Season 2 Watch last season's crazy finale here.Sleepy Hollow returns on Monday, Sept. 22 at 9/8c on Fox.
Mission accomplished, Sleepy Hollow. Mission freakin' accomplished. We don't know about you, but we're still scrapping the remnants of our jaws off the floor after the Fox hit's epic season one finale, which found Abbie (Nicole Beharie) trapped in purgatory, Ichabod (Tom Mison) buried alive (Worst father-son reunion ever), Irving (Orlando Jones) in jail and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) possibly dead after a major car wreck. Yeah, Sleepy Hollow's finale pretty much redefined the word epic.
In fact, it was so epic that even its star Tom Mison wonders, \"How do we build from this finale\" Fortunately, we've got our hands on an exclusive sneak peek at season two, which finds executive producer and writer Mark Goffman teasing the fallout we'll see when the series returns in the fall...
Variety sat down with star Tom Mison at the Television Critics Assn. summer press tour to find out what's in store for season two, including love triangles, Ichabod's quest to redeem Jeremy and where we find our characters after last season's shocking cliffhanger.
But he and Katrina haven't spent much time together over the centuries, what with him being asleep and her in Purgatory. So it's arguable that he knows Abbie better than he knows Katrina at this point, given that Katrina has been keeping a few secrets from him.Yes. This is brought up in season two, the deceit. And of course, that's going to be a problem. But he's a man of honor and he loves his wife.
During your TCA panel, executive producer Len Wiseman said that thanks to \"other characters that come in around [Ichabod and Abbie], you see jealousy come out in ways that are more interesting,\" but that Ichabod and Abbie might also be reevaluating their feelings for each other this season. Can you expand on thatWell, reevaluating their feelings I think is a hangover from the last season where there's questions of trust in the partnership. In terms of the love interest, yes, there's a new character, played brilliantly by Matt Barr. And yes, he brings a completely new dynamic. Much as Ichabod loves his wife and respects Abbie as a Partner with a capital P, someone comes in and if he starts distracting her, then that's going to be a problem, and who knows when jealousy might creep in if someone starts taking her attention away
I hear we'll also see more of the Headless Horseman in his non-headless form as Abraham, Katrina's former flame. And I'm really pleased. Neil [Jackson] came in to join us to play Abraham only very briefly last season and I loved working with him. So he comes back into it an awful lot more. Again, that's another problem: Katrina is with the Headless Horseman, but she hasn't seen him as the Headless Horseman, she remembers him as Abraham, her one-time fiancé, who turned bad purely because of his love for her.
Beharie also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of both the heat and the early ramp-up to Season 2 production and how comfortable she is or isn't feeling in her second season as a TV regular.
Nicole Beharie: I think it's pretty big. I think it's huge. I think is huge. It's a massive issue and there's a lot of negotiating who we are as partners this year, this season. How much can you trust him and his wife and son and all these people How solid of a unit are they when he's done something before to betray her that however it could be looked at as helping to fight the war, the apocalypse, but it also put her in a very dangerous situation. So they are fighting a larger battle and then within that battle they're having to look over their shoulder every now and then I think and figure out who they are to one another.
Sleepy Hollow's second-season premiere is this week, and we can't wait to meet back with Ichabod and company, since we've heard the new season would feature some romantic \"bombs.\" To get ready for the premiere, check out the pictures of the spooky series, featuring Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie as Ichabod and Abbie.
